Whatever
your decision, here are some helpful tips to assist you in choosing
a suitable entertainer for your occasion.
 |
EXPERIENCE :
There are entertainers who lack experience, yet are quite
good at what they do. However, if you require someone
who can successfully deal with a lively group, a
particularly young group or a potentially troublesome group,
look for ample experience. |
|
 |
SUITABILITY :
Horses for courses. You wouldn’t want a fairy for a group
of 9 year-old boys, for example. Talk with the person who
will actually perform for you, and ask questions to gauge
their suitability. |
|
 |
QUALITY :
Request a brochure, photos, website or video to help you
ascertain the quality of equipment, costume and customer
service. |
|
 |
VARIETY :
Even a good entertainer can become a little tiresome after
a while. Look for variety in the content. It’s a sure way
to combat restlessness. |
|
 |
VALUE :
Be wary if the price is way out of the ordinary. "Way too
little" is probably a youth or hobbyist (OK, if that’s
all you want). "Way too much" is probably a bigger show
than you need, or simply excessive. |
|
 |
RELIABILITY :
Too often, people are let down by entertainers “double-booking”
or just “getting it wrong”. Ask for a letter of confirmation
detailing your function, so there is no confusion or uncertainty
by either party. |
|
Above
all, trust your ‘gut feeling’. Talk to your entertainer before booking.
You’ll know whether you’re confident in having that person visit
your group on the day. I trust this information will assist in your deciding an appropriate
entertainer for your special event.
GOOD LUCK, AND ENJOY.
